FasSnow enthusiasts can hit the slopes early and celebrate with Party on the Mountain
ALTO, N.M. – Thanks to strong early-season snowfall, Ski Apache will open for the 2024–2025 winter season on Saturday, Nov. 23. New Mexico’s southern-most resort will offer a discounted rate on season passes along with pristine snow conditions in time for the holidays.Â
The season opens with lower chair three running, with additional lifts coming online as snowfall permits. Opening weekend also marks the return of Party on the Mountain, a free family-friendly event packed with food, fun, and live entertainment from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 23–24. Thrill seekers can ride the Apache Wind Rider Zip Tour, while those seeking a more laid-back experience can enjoy live music or take a $25 scenic gondola ride with stunning views of the surrounding Sacramento mountains.
Season passes for the 2024–2025 winter season are available for purchase through Dec. 1, with discounted early bird pricing starting at just $450 for adults, teens, children, seniors (ages 55–69), military members, and college students. Seniors aged 70+ can snag a pass for only $250. Passes can be purchased in person at Party on the Mountain (Nov. 23–24), at the Town Ski Shop in Ruidoso, or online.
Ski Apache is best known for its mild winter temperatures and abundance of blue-bird skiing. The mountain’s high elevations, combined with its southerly latitude, gives the resort a unique advantage of seeing abundant snowfall with comfortable weather. It’s this promise of blue-bird days and superb snow conditions that lures skiers and riders from far and wide.
Owned by the Mescalero Apache Tribe, Ski Apache boasts 750 skiable acres across 55 runs, all accessible via 11 lifts, including New Mexico’s only eight-passenger gondola. Adventurers can carve their way through the Apache Bowl at the summit or test their skills in one of two terrain parks located mid-mountain and at the base.
