Its a fine, fine tradition round these parts….
Dummy Gelunde is a sport of sorts, where teams of one to three people construct snow-riding dummies attached to a pair of skis or a snowboard and launch the handmade contraptions over a giant on-snow jump. Dummies are then judged on distance, air, creativity, takeoff, landing and crowd response.
In its forth year, a grand prize of $1,500 will be awarded to the first place Dummy Gelunde team. Second place will receive $750 and third place will receive $500, with an overall cash purse of $2,750.
The Dummy Gelunde Championships will be held on Easy Street at Ski Apache Saturday, December 22th from 3 – 4:30p.m., with viewing and judging taking place from 1-3 p.m. Entry cost is only $50 per team and is limited to a field of 30 teams on a first come, first serve policy. The awards ceremony will be held in the plaza at 5:00 that afternoon.
Registration opened to the public November 15th and is limited to a field of 30 teams.
